Description: Lledo / Stevelyn Diecast Model SP16001 - 1934 Dennis Parcels Z Van Das Modell Ladchen (Germany) Limited Edition Model Jack Odell, one of the founders of the Matchbox diecast company, founded Lledo (Odell backwards) in 1982, and launched the "Days Gone" range of models in 1983, taking over a market previously popularised by the Matchbox "Models of Yesteryear" series. Models produced by the Enfield-based company became popular among collectors worldwide. Lledo specialised in the Promotional market, making models for companies and organisations who wanted to have their own logo or livery on a model. They also branched out into the souvenir business, forming a partnership with Hertfordshire-based Stevelyn & Co., who purchased models made by Lledo and applied their own finishes, to produce the "View Vans", "ProMotor Vans" and "Souvenir Bus" ranges of souvenir models. Stevelyn would also work with clients who only wanted very small numbers of models, below the minimum requirement for Lledo's Tampo-printing process. With a minimum order of just 500, Lledo would supply "blank" un-printed models to Stevelyn, who would finish them by applying labels with the client's desired logos and designs. These special orders would be allocated a catalogue number with the "SP" prefix to distinguish them from the mainstream "Days Gone" series, whose numbers always began with "DG". This model depicts a 1934 Dennis Parcels Van, a model that was introduced into the "Days Gone" range by Lledo in 1985, and proved very popular. Finished in Beige and Brown, it was commissioned by German Model Shop Das Modell Ladchen. Allocated the Catalogue Number SP16001, this was a Limited Edition run of only 500 models, making it hard to find. Very good pre-owned condition, in original box. Box is excellent, with no significant wear and no serious rips or splits. Model itself is clean and appears to be in near-mint condition, only being taken out of the box to photograph.
