Description: "You have, maybe, two years to live. The time you have left will be very gloomy." This was the news that I received as I sat, stunned, in the doctor's office. That was 34 years ago. I had just started my dream job and I was 23 years old. I still have pulmonary hypertension, but for reasons not medically known, I am still here. Right after my pah diagnosis in 1976, I started writing in the form of a journal as a means to express inner thoughts that I could not discuss with others. It became my outlet. I became a sponge and learned everything that I could about this incurable disease. After speaking at PH support groups in many cities all aver the country, I was encouraged to write my story. This is the account of my journey as I learned to live and cope with a disease that still has no cure other than a heart and/or lung transplant. My goal for this book is to give hope to others with PH and any disease. 20% of the sale price is donated, 10% will go to the Pulmonary Hypertension Association for research and 10% goes to UPHill Journeys, a non-profit that is affiliated with Maine Medical Center, Portland, ME dedicated to patient and physician education and awareness on the topic of pulmonary arterial hypertension.
