Description: Royal Albert Dock 1940’s Tobacco Ledger Tobacciana John Player & Sons This is an original, full ledger in marked cloth with marbled end papers. The ledger starts on 30th August 1948 mentioning many different ship names, also many tobacco companies such as John Player & Sons, Edwards Goodwin & Co LTD, British American Tobacco and many more. The book is a wealth of information in terms of the history of shipping and tobacco trade of this era. It is an extremely scarce survivor. Internally in very good condition. They are numerous stamps and various people have contributed to the book as there are many different types of handwriting throughout mainly in ink pen. This is a valuable resource for an historian or researcher. The ledger is absolutely full to the last page, ending on 29th December 1949. The cover is well marked showing signs of use in the docks. Albert Dock/Royal Albert Dock is a world famous dock in Liverpool, well known for its international trade in the 19th and 20th centuries. It was known as the Albert dock until 2018 where it was granted the royal charter and therefore Royal was added to its name.
