Description: Beautiful, handpainted, unique lithophane tea set, where the face of a geisha was created in the base of the tea cup by using varying thicknesses of porcelain as a medium. The face is somewhat visible when you look at the bottom of the cups but comes to life when you hold the cup up to the light (see the pictures). The painting is all hand done and includes gold highlights both inside and out, as well as three dimensional snow. This set includes the teapot and lid, sugar bowl and lid, and six* tea cups. The porcelain is extremely thin and the cups are very fragile. Please see my feedback - they will be carefully packed and shipped despite their fragility. *NOTE: the listing is for five teacups. I have six but one is chipped, has a crack down the side, and has significant flaws in the cup. I am including this when I send it to you because I don't want to break up the set but am not charging you for the sixth cup. This is a listing for five cups. The damaged one is not pictured. Other than the extra cup mentioned above, the remaining items are undamaged, with no chips, cracks, or scratches. These are old, so there is some very minor paint loss around the lip of the cups here and there. Teapot: 8" tip of spout to back of handle, 4.5" high, 5.25" to top of lid handle, 2.5" opening, main body of teapot is 4.5" diameter Sugar bowl: 6" handle to handle, 3.5" high, 3.25" to top of lid, 2.25" opening, main body of sugar bowl is 3.75" diameter Tea cups: 3.75" diameter, 2" tall
