Having entered the École des Beaux-Arts in Paris in 1814, when he was barely 13 years old, Victor Adam exhibited his first paintings in 1819. He was a student of Charles Meynier, then of Baron Regnault. He later tried his hand at lithography and it was ultimately in this form of artistic expression that he expressed himself from 1823, producing nearly 8,000 plates.The Battle of Ulm was a major victory won by Napoleon I's Grand Army over an Austrian army commanded by General Karl Mack, between 23 and 28 Vendémiaire, Year XIV (15 and 20 October 1805). It was won mainly by clever maneuvers by the Emperor, who forced his adversary to shut himself up in Ulm, where he had to quickly surrender.
