Description: Linarite and Brochantite on Quartz and Baryte Mex-Tex Mine Hansonburg Mining District Socorro County New Mexico USA Approximate Size: 7.0 x 4.0 x 3.5 cm Weight: 2.9 ounces (81 grams) Double terminated Quartz crystals to 2.5cm, on the front and back of a piece of re-crystallized cream colored Baryte. What makes the specimen more special is the dusting of powdery blue Linarite and a few tiny Brochantite crystals. The white mineral is either an alteration of the Linarite, or possibly alteration of Brochantite (maybe Chrysocolla?). The Quartz crystals have excellent luster but cleaning to reveal luster would remove the secondary copper minerals. The area where this was found is now collapsed.
