Her tonnage was 49,746 GT with dimensions of 890'x102'. Quadruple screw, 28 knots, steam turbines, two masts and two funnels. Launched In August 1928. Maiden voyage Bremen-Southampton-New York on March 19, 1930. Remained tied up in a German harbor throughtout WW II. After the war she was used as a troopship to bring back soldiers to the U.S. The liner was turned over to the French in 1946 and renamed LIBERTE.
