Description: ****Stands Not Included**** Here we have an unsmoked, beautiful and obscure post-war production era (1945-1949) Certified Purex L&H Stern pipe. Appropriately designated, the 75 Big Dipper exhibits the elegant lines, curves and chamber size of its namesake LHS shape number 75. While at the peak of their popularity, the screw-in tenons and metal tube condensers being the standard of many American pipe manufacturers by this time, this classic looking Oom Paul by LHS is anything but standard by the method of their design. It’s a bit difficult to see because of the metal tenon connection on the shank face but, If you look down into the hole of the shank face carefully with a flashlight or snakelight, you will see a deep hollow chamber that the stinger sits into, just like that of the system pipes i.e. Peterson. Although this pipe’s system chamber has a lot more room than a standard system pipe to accommodate LHS’s condenser tube(stinger). I imagine this particular setup would possibly make for a much drier smoke. There is a fill underneath the 75 and there a few other small dings on the pipe from handling and moving around over the years. Overall, in beautiful and unused condition.
