Description: Lovely copy of the rare 1958 pressing of Kogan’s earlier recording of Paganini’s Violin Concerto No. 1 on Bruno Records BR-14022. This is one of the earliest US releases by Kogan, and on one of the earlier audiophile labels of the time, recorded in mono but really a special recording and pressing. Truly an incredible performance and the sound is just fantastic. This copy really brings the greatness of the recording out well. The disc plays just about flawlessly and stunningly. There are some superficial scuffs but they don’t make any pops or ticks at all. There is a touch of very light background crackle in a few spots but not much at all. Really it plays just incredibly. To my ears it is a way better recording than the more common Angel album. The cover has some wear, wirh tape on the top and bottom seams, which are split. Part of the spine is splitting too, and there are a couple of numbered stickers on the front. It was used in a music library, hence the numbers. But the cover is more worn than the disc, and it really plays beautifully. One of his great recordings, and a very hard to find pressing.
