Description: Hi, This auction is for a lovely pair of Antique Opera Glasses made of Brass and Mother of Pearl with their original black leather case lined in red satin. Circa 1880’s. They are marked Lemarie and Paris on the top. See photo. All lenses are present and are clear. The glasses have been engraved L De Y. Not sure if that is a play on words “Lady” or if the letters were actually L De Y. Nice provenance either way. See close up photo. Also included is the black leather case which has lost the brass push button closure. As you can see by the photos it does not close fully without the button. It is the original case and you can see where there are the exact same size lens marks on the satin made from aging and storage. Excellent condition: mother of pearl has a beautiful luster to it, brass is very good. One tiny spot of green by the screw and a few scratches on the engraving. Lovely set of Opera Glasses for use or display from an Estate here in the Cleveland area. The photos should show you the rest of the details.
