She is shown with a stack of program listings of code for the on-board flight software.Dr. Nancy Roman, who for two decades led the effort to fund, build and launch the Hubble Space Telescope. Her exhibit includes a Hubble mini-build.Mae Jemison, M.D., flew aboard as a mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Endeavour in 1992 (STS 47). She was an astronaut for six years (1987-1993). She shares a Space Shuttle Challenger mini-build with Sally Ride, PhD, who was the first American woman to fly in space. She also helped develop the Space Shuttle's robotic arm. She flew as a mission specialist on the Space Shuttle Challenger in 1983 (STS 7) and again in 1984 (STS-41-G).
