Description: Large folio antique book. Beautifully bound in full leather with deeply embossed cover and spine. Title is gilt stamped on the spine and cover. High quality printing with color end papers, red and black title page, and a full color chromolithograph frontispiece. Illustrations are placed in the center of the text, similar to how notes were on the page in incunabula (pre-1500) books. Google translate gives the translation of the title to: Legend or The Christian Starry Sky. There could be a error, as it doesn't sound quite right. Good condition. Ex-library call numbers handwritten on the bottom of the spine. Leather has chipping and wear around the outside edges. Cover had 4 images of religious people, but only the upper left one remains. Front inside cover has a bookplate with a withdrawn stamp; back inside cover has a library pocket, bar code and a white slip. Front cover has a small tear starting between the spine and front cover. Spine head has a quarter inch loss of the leather. Pages are gilded on all edges, and the outside gilt is starting to fade from use. 12.25" x 10" 932 numbered pages + 4 advertising pages.
