Description: Lea Steinsigned Brooch. TOM the bear. A fairly recent design. SPECIAL OFFER FOR UK BUYERS! Purchase any two brooches and get a full refund of postage. Tom the Bear is one of four Lea Stein brooches featured in Secretary Madeline Albright's book "Read my Pins" and exhibited in the exhibition "Read my pins: the Madeleine Albright collection" organised by the Museum of Arts and Design, New York in 2009. Mrs. Albright used brooches to send messages as a result of Saddam Hussein calling her a "an unparalleled serpent". This inspired her to wear a serpent brooch on her next meeting with him! After this she regularly used brooches to send messages to diplomats. The other three Lea Stein designs used by her for this purpose were the Tortoise, Bouba the owl and the famous red Fox and all four brooches feature in Secretary Albright's book. In excellent pre-owned condition. Measurements : 7cm x 5 at widest. I guarantee this is a genuine brooch by Lea Stein and handmade in Paris. Any marks on the brooch are a result of bad photography on my part for which I apologise. Please also realise it is extremely difficult to get an exact representation of colours. I have done my best! Marks around the pin are a result of the hand making process and in no way to be considered a fault. COMBINED SHIPPING AVAILABLE N. B. Please be aware that multiple purchases might result in a slightly higher postage cost than a single item as a result of extra weight and insurance. N. B. Any excess postage paid will be refunded. What you pay is exactly what the post office charges me. I do not make any profit from either the postage or the wrapping materials. I post on a Tuesday and Friday normally. If for some reason this time is not convenient for you please contact me via eBay and I will do my best to accommodate you with times that are suitable for you.
