Description: For sale is a beautiful hand-painted LAXA ORNAMENT OR WALL PLAQUE - SAINT NICHOLAS OR SANTA CLAUS - made from a cookie mold. IT IS NOT MEANT TO FUNCTION AS A COOKIE MOLD BUT AS AN ORNAMENTAL PLAQUE OR WALL DECORATION. This plaque represents SAINT NICHOLAS (ST. NICK) OR SANTA CLAUS DRESSED AS A BISHOP WITH HIS MITRE AND HOLDING HIS CROSIER, It is hand-painted by Yana Laxa. It was hand-casted from an old wooden European mold from circa 1550 A.D. The Laxa Family emigrated to the US from Europe. They spent a good amount of time travelling throughout Europe collecting very old and highly treasured Springerle and Speculaas molds - and brought them back to America. They began casting replica molds and plaques/ornaments in the early1970's and early 1980's. This beautiful plaque measures 2 1/4" W x 5 1/2" H. It is made out of ceramic and was cast from a very old European Speculaas mold and artistically painted by Yana Laxa, one of the Laxa Family daughters. There is a label on the back to show that. Also there is the Laxa family logo in Red which is embedded into the back of the plaque. It makes a lovely piece of European Folk Wall Art and can be used to decorate your Christmas Tree as shown in the photos provided.
