Description: LAST ONE! of the type of check from 1880. This is a lot of 5 used checks from 1880 to 1900. They areall different checks from three Morristown, NJ banks. The First National Bank of Morristown, The Morristown Trust Company and National Iron Bank. Three of these checks have applied US Internal Revenue stamps and two are pre printed. They all have some punctures on them from the way that the bank canceled the checks. Old checks had to be cut apart with scissors or simply torn with a straight edge, like two here. The three later checks have perforations. The Revenue stamps were required by law to be canceled to prevent reuse. All writing was done with pen and hand dipped ink. No ball point pens here.
