Description: Large Vintage Eagle Dancer Kachina Native Hopi Handmade 21 In. Tall 21 In. Wingspan. This Kachina is not ordinary…it is a work of art by a talented artist…the skirt is not wood carved like many kachina, it is beautiful fabric that is hand painted and draped. The ribbons are fabric and also hand painted and fringed. Great work. The necklace is real turquoise and coral stones, again not carved wood. The feathers show that they are vintage, but has been taken very good care of. The facial features is great carving with a stunning beak and tongue…the ears have feather decoration. The hands and feet have veery defined detail. The fur used is in good condition. Great stride and wingspan. I purchased this in Arizona in the late 80’s from a couple that had been collecting Hopi Kachinas and were getting a divorce. I purchased 5 kachinas from them and have had them in my Southwest Indian Art collection…they had purchased at the Hope Cultural Center in Holtvilla on Second Mesa.
