Billings works rarely come to market, and this is an especially fine piece, successfully selected by the artist for gallery exhibition, where it was displayed in a NY exhibition as "Realist Antecendants". There are additional gallery tags from "Midtown Galleries"; " Salander O'Reilly", and from the Artist's Choice Museum, where it was displayed in 1985. The painting is large, measuring 40" x 30", and the outer dimensions of the frame are 34" x 44". The painting is in excellent condition, free of rips, tears, or craquelure. The frame was constructed in an odd way, where a light layer of gesso was added, and it was subsequently painted black. This is subsequently vulnerable to losses. I have repaired this minor flaws myself, but the finish to the frame is fragile.
