Description: Listed German Artist Ludwig Van Langenmantel Signed, on lower right, this Large, Unique, 8-sided Still Life. It is an Original Oil on Canvas from the late 19th to early 20th C. It is an Impressive piece of art. A bronze or copper vase, wide with claw feet and intricate decoration, holds a bounty of white, pink and red flowers - mostly roses. the vase sits on a green tablecloth that has sensual folds in it. The subtle color palette allows the oversized flowers not to overwhelm the eye. Langenmantel made several 6 and 8-sided works of art and we believe he was involved in the construction of those frames. There has been some regilding through the years (and the finish is worn in areas) but the bones of the frame are solid. The patina on the stretchers (with original keys) matches the patina on the frame.2 3/4" Wide, Antique, 8 Sided, Hand Carved and Assembled Gilt moulding is included in this listing. The frame is most likely original to the piece and complements it beautifully. The back of the canvas has been treated with bees wax - after a relining we believe - to preserve the artwork.Canvas measures 30 X 32 and is in Good Antique condition w/ a bubble at left - difficult to see - last image for close-up.Outside measure of the frame is 34 3/4 X 36 3/4 and is in Good to Very Good condition w/ a little corner separation. Please carefully examine all images for condition.Piece weighs 11 lbs., 8 oz., before packing.Shipping fee includes Delivery Insurance. *Ludwig von Langenmantel (1854-1922) came from an old patrician family in Augsburg.
