Engraved by James Gillray Publishd May 15th 1801 by H Humphrey, No. 27 St James's Street (Lettered above plate 40) Title: Playing in Parts Etcher: James Gillray (British, London 1756–1815 London) Artist: After Brownlow North (British, 1778–1829) Publisher: Hannah Humphrey (British, ca. 1745–1819) Date: May 15, 1801 James Gillray was a British caricaturist and printmaker famous for his etched political and social satires, mainly published between 1792 and 1810. Many of his works are held at the National Portrait Gallery in London. Photographed in natural daylight with no digital enhancements. APPROX SIZE of actual image including plate mark 14" x 10" and 18.5" x 12.5" including surround. CONDITION - In good/fair condition for age with little or no foxing, fading or watermarks to print but with some fading, discolouration to surround and tears to the edges - please see photos to satisfy yourself as to condition as they form part of the description.
