Large Antique English Staffordshire figurine of Cromwell riding horse

Description: This is one Antique British Staffordshire figurine. It is of the Lord Protector Oliver Cromwell. Originally there were two figures Charles I and Cromwell. This auction is for Cromwell only. This figurine is from about 1860 from the Sutherland Works established by Sampson Smith. Ivory Black with gold flecks. Measurements: 12 1/2" x 9 1/2"Base is 7 1/2" x 3 1/2" Horse is flat on the back. Has one hole in the base and one on the back. This is standard as these figures were molded.Excellent condition with just light wear on the gilding. Oliver Cromwell (25 April 1599 – 3 September 1658) was an English statesman, politician and soldier, widely regarded as one of the most important figures in the history of the British Isles. "The Sutherland Works - These works were established in Barker Street in about 1860 by Sampson Smith, at whose death they passed into the hands of John Adderley, Sampson Smith established his first works in the High Street in c. 1860.
