Description: Lammert Furniture Company Photo RPPC Postcard 1920s Deliver Truck 1920's St Louis MO The Lammert Furniture Company, a prominent retailer in St. Louis, Missouri, was established in 1861 by Martin Lammert Sr. The business began on Franklin Avenue and relocated several times before settling in a landmark building at 911-919 Washington Avenue in 1923. This building, designed in 1898 by Eames and Young, originally housed a dry goods company before being acquired by Lammert's. Its ornate façade and interior renovations in the 1980s added to its architectural significance, earning it city landmark status in 1979. Lammert's was known for its high-quality furniture, serving customers across more than 30 states via catalogs and growing to multiple locations during its peak in the mid-20th century. However, as downtown sales declined, the flagship store closed in 1973. The business adapted by focusing on fine furniture and consolidating into suburban locations, ultimately moving to Clayton and later Frontenac. Operations ceased in 2007, concluding over 135 years of service>>>Please see Item Condition AboveCondition is "Used" - Please see our condition description & photos and use the photo close up feature to get a good look.
