Description: Koshiro Matsumoto Vintage Kabuki Theater Program Guide September 1950s Kabukiza Tokyo Japan This is a rare, hard to find program from the Kabukiza Kabuki Theater in Tokyo Japan. On page 5 there is a reference to part of the performance being a "Ceremonial Address on Commemoration of the Seventh Anniversary of the Late Koshiro Matsumoto Vll's Death". He passed away in 1949. Mrs. Edna believes that the seventh anniversary would date this program to 1956. His three sons, Ebizo, Koshiro Vlll (who carried on his father's name) and Shoruku appear on stage at this performance. Black & photos of two of the sons dressed in Kabuki costume appear on pages 6-7. Hand assembled, the paper secured to the cover by dark brown ribbons, this 16-page program explains in wonderful detail what the audience will experience. It provides insight into the characters, the background story and the scene of the play for each act of the Kabuki performance. This item is in good or better pre-owned vintage condition. There are no ripped, torn or loose pages. There are signs of wear from age, use and storage, which includes but is not limited to wrinkles in the paper, crease marks, scuff/scratch marks and other discolored spots/marks.
