Description: This listing is for 1 Sangpyeong Tongbo bronze coin from the Korean Joseon dynasty (1633-1892). Size: 24 mm // 4.10 g The Stabilisation Office or Sangpyeongchong, a government famine relief organisation, introduced the bronze Sangpyeong Tongbo coins in 1633, the coins bore an abbreviation of the office's name - Sangpyeong - and the phrase Tongbo which means "circulating treasure". The adoption of the Sangpyeong Tongbo was slow, however by the year 1678 during the reign of king Sukjong, these coins achieved country-wide circulation. The obverse of the coins reads: 常 Sang寶 通 Tong bo 平 pyong The reverse displays the mint mark at the top, the series at bottom. Even water can change the way they look forever. So please please please before doing anything read, watch videos, multiple if necessary as different people can have different opinions and most importantly the coins are not the same (just because cleaning one kind of bronze coins in a specific way is ok, it doesn’t mean it will be fine for all bronze coins and so on). So just be careful. As for storage, there are many good options available, just try to keep in mind that whatever you end up choosing should be acid-free and pvc-free, as normal paper and plastic have chemicals on the surface which can and will damage coins and banknotes if they stay in contact for a long time.
