It accepts two ASTM International standard D96 short (6") conical test tubes (sold separately). The unit has independent digital temperature displays for the tube pre-heater and the centrifuge bowl, and is insulated to reduce heat loss. This centrifuge is used in petroleum field testing to measure sediment and water content in crude oil, fuel oils, and middle distillate fuels.
