Description: This is a Knightia "mortality" fossil fish plate from the fossil beds of Fossil Lake, Green River Formation, Wyoming. It is from the Eocene layer making it between 40 and 50 million years old. It features 8 complete knightias approximately 4 inches long. There are also several partial fish on this plate. The plate is irregular shaped - 13 inches by 8 inches. I weighs 2 pounds and 12 ounces. This is a wonderful plate that shows how these fish perished together in Fossil Lake millions of years ago. I purchased this plate unprepared. I self prepared it to what you see now. I have done some touch up on the fish for a better presentation. This exquisite fossil fish from the Green River Formation in Wyoming is a remarkable addition to any collection. With its intricate details and unique beauty, it is a testament to the incredible diversity of life that once thrived on our planet. Its country of origin, the United States, only adds to its value as a collectible item. This item belongs to the categories of Bony Fish, Vertebrates, Fossils, Rocks, Fossils & Minerals, and Collectibles. As you can see from the photos, it is in excellent condition and would make a great display piece in any home or office. Don't miss out on the opportunity to own this one-of-a-kind piece of natural history.
