Description: This is a research-grade solar radiation measurement instrument designed to measure the broadband (full spectrum) incident solar radiation striking it's hemispherical field of view. It is normally positioned with it's detector in a horizontal plane to respond to the incident "full-sky-dome" solar radiation commonly known as "Global Horizontal" irradiance, however it can also be oriented at any desired tilt angle (e.g. in the same plane as a solar panel array) This type of instrument is commonly used in commercial and industrial applications for continuous outdoor operation. It has an analog voltage output. This particular instrument was used as part of a custom designed portable field-test. validation and calibration system, used to commission large scale solar power plant solar measurement systems, and so was not continuously exposed throughout it's lifetime.
