Novels for children and adolescents are based on narrative conceptions which build the basis for reading comprehension: The questions of the what in a narrative and the how are an essential part of scholarly studies on childrens and youth literature - when it is read as literature. This is the understanding of all contributors in this volume who research the relationship of story and discourse. In this respect, more recent points of view on narratology are transferred to the analysis of childrens and youth literature. He is also the chairman of the jury for the awarding of the Uwe Johnson Literature Prize and the Uwe Johnson Funding Prize and a member of the P.E.N. Center for Germany. In 2012 he was nominated for the Diefenbaker Award (Canada). Dr. Hermann Korte is a professor in the Faculty of Language, Literature and Media Studies at the University of Siegen.
