Description: Kenesaw Landis Signed 1944 Baseball Commissioner Typed Letter Autographed Guaranteed Authentic Original Kenesaw Mountain Landis was an American jurist who served as a United States federal judge from 1905 to 1922 and the first Commissioner of Baseball from 1920 until his death in 1944. This letter was written in his last year of life. Obtained from the estate of a sports writer who worked for United Press and The Detroit Free Press newspaper in 1940s.It is likely only three people have touched these letters, Mr. Landis, the recipient, and myself. The sports writer, Mr. Devine, met and became friends with Mr. Landis during his days at The Detroit Free Press. He left the job at the newspaper to join the Army during WWII, where he was when Mr. Landis wrote this letter. In the estate lot where I obtained the letter, there were also many items including press cards, newspaper articles written by Mr. Devine, and other letters he received from other sports notables not included in this sale but listed separately (see last 7 photos). Because of all the information I have I can guarantee the signature is authentic. If you decide to have it professionally authenticated you will have no problem. If you have any concerns, PSA Authentication Co. has an on-line service where for $10 they will look at this ebay listing and give you their opinion as to the authenticity of the signature. The letter is folded, as found. There are no rips but have some tanning spots. The signature areas appear to be in very good condition. The letter will be packed between stiff cardboard and in a padded envelope.U.S. SHIPPING ONLYFAST - WILL SEND NEXT BUSINESS DAY OR SOONER
