Description: Ken Keeley Original painting Florida Lake - HUGE 32" x 73" This painting is very unique in the world of Ken Keeley. Ken died in 2020 but he is well known as one of the fathers of the photorealistic movement. He painted iconic cityscapes, newsstands and portraits. He is the painter of the Carnegie Deli Book cover. The story behind this painting: I had the pleasure of knowing Ken. I am now a retired art dealer but I had bought and sold many paintings and serigraphs from Ken for years. Ken had an estate on Lake Josephine in central Florida where his studio was. I was chatting with him one day and we were talking about life on the lake as I was interested in buying a house on the same lake. He indicated to me that he and his wife were planning on moving to Georgia. Long story short, I bought his house!!! Since we were friends he gave me this painting as gift when I bought the house. It is a view from his second floor studio looking over the lake. You will see a great blue heron, a hawk, his pontoon boat docked to the 2 level boat dock. Ken had 2 custom canoes built for him. The guy in the boat is the builder of those canoes. Why am I selling such a huge Ken Keeley painting so inexpensively? The blunt honest truth is that it is not as valuable as his other paintings are worth because it is not a subject matter that he is most famous for although he has done many landscapes and seascapes. The painting is fantastic, obviously. I cant charge for sentimental value as the sentimental value that I have with the painting is not what you will have even though you will love the painting. You will have a nice story and understanding about the painting but he was a friend of mine and I am the one that bought the house. I turned his studio into my master bedroom! I have since downsized and do not have room for a painting this big. Also when I go, what are my kids going to do with it? Please let me know if you have any questions.
