WHY YOU'VE NEVER HEARD OF IT: Back in the70s/80s/90s/early 2000s the Kawai company was known for making wonderful pianos, organs, synthesizers, and the occasional personal keyboard, mixer or even midi patchbay.But not effects processors.The RV-4 was expensive and meant to compete with high end processors, such as Lexicon and the like. Magazine reviews of the time lauded it with praise, but sadly this Kawai never got the attention it deserved.It cost nearly as much as a Lexicon PCM90, but Kawai didn't have the effects rep it needed to draw a substantial audience (maybe they should've started smaller). A true shame that few units were made and sold. HOW DOES IT SOUND: Sound is truly a personal thing. It was billed as a high end professional processor and that's what it sounds like.To my ears the sound is unique and rich. Again, sound is a personal thing and you may disagree. WOULD I CONSIDER SELLING MY SECOND UNIT? No. Pry it from my cold dead fingers.
