Description: Kansas City, MISSOURI - Willis Wood Theater - ARCHITECTURE: The Willis Wood Theater, located on the northwest corner of 11th Street and Baltimore Avenue, opened on August 25, 1902. It was designed by Kansas City architect Louis Curtis. The structure had a yellow-brick and white terracotta exterior in classical style. In January 1917, a week before the last stock company was to end and movies were to be shown, the Willis Wood Theater was gutted by a fire – with only exterior walls remaining. This shell stood for another year before it was finally razed and replaced by the 20-story Kansas City Athletic Club building. This Divided Back Era (1907-15) postcard is in good condition but shows no edge wear. Norwood Souvenir Co. Cincinnati, Ohio.
