Then as one 3-1 book 1991 both before Alan Lee was that popular. The 1991 was repackaged in a box set with the illustrated Hobbit 1997. Filled with Allan's wonderful illustrations, approx 50. As-new. High print quality heavy set. In 2002 there was a re-set edition of the same ISBN, same style due to the popularity of the new films. Houghton Mifflin in the USA printed their own versions, but they were bought by HC later.There's a lot of confusion with ISBN and pritnings etc with modern books. Each publishers uses a different standard and then may change it later. ISBN refers to the text version which can be re-printed in another book format. The text and copyright page can be printed seperatley or reprinted in different bindings. a 1 in the number lien doesn't mean its the first priting as defined by first available to the public. They can reprint before the first printing ever reaches the store in the same shipment. What matters tot he value: the condtion, the scarcity and the country it was printed in. Only UK editions are first editions.
