Description: Located in the High Desert of California in the Mohave Desert, Joshua Tree is now a National Park. This twisted, bristled tree was named by Mormon settlers in the mid1800s because the shape reminded them of the Bible story in which Joshua reaches his hands up to the sky in prayer. The slow-growing Joshua Tree is not really a “tree.” It is a species of yucca, in the same subgroup as orchids and flowering grasses. Joshua Trees grow slowly, only 1-3 inches a year, with a life span of about 150 years. The picture on this card includes an example of the rugged rock formations found in the National Park. Based on the AZO stamp on the back of the card, and the age of the post card collection this card came from, this postcard dates to about 1924.This original real photo card ships USPS standard first class, sleeved and in a stiff cardboard mailer.
