Corners liightly nudged and wearing, Delicately marbled endpapers (gilt on lilght rose) bear the rubber stamp of Elizabeth Lambert Wood, a prolific author who spent her time between Oregon and Arizona. Mrs. Wood predominately wrote children's fiction. Exhaustive history of this major Pacific Northwest hub and harbor, as well as numerous biographies of the men and women who built Portland. Illustrated with many photographs. 681, 796, 830 pp. respectively in three volumes. Very nice set, and owned and used by an author who wrote numerous Oregon-based works, especially for children. Very Good. "...Elizabeth Lambert Wood was born in 1874, the ninth of ten children, to Joseph and Clementine Lambert. She would have had a comfortable childhood being the daughter of Joseph Lambert who as early as 1858 was active in civic affairs in his adopted Oregon. He served as county commissioner both in Multnomah and Clackamas counties, helped establish and served as president of the Citizens Bank of Portland and was a founding member of the Oregon Horticultural Society. As a nurseryman he was well known for developing the widely popular Lambert cherry.." She died in 1962. (Garden Home History Page).
