Description: El Diablo Cojuelo (The Limping Devil). Publication edited in Havana following the freedom of the press decreed on January 9, 1869 by Spanish Governnor Domingo Dulce. Its only issue was published by José Martí and Fermín Valdés Domínguez on January 19, 1869. Its four pages Feature an editorial and several satirical notes on the press and events of the time. It was Martí's first political journalistic work. It was printed at the El Iris Printing and Bookstore, Obispo 20 and 22, Havana. Its title was taken from the novel of the same name by Luis Vélez de Guevara, a Spanish writer of the 16th century. This is facsimile edition issued by the Office of Historian of Havana in 1954 and a gift of the Cuban Society for the Historical and International Studies.
