Description: Joseph Triner, born in Bohemia in 1861, was a manufacturer and importer, who opened his first Chicago factory on Ashland Avenue, the Joseph Triner Company Manufacturing Chemists. He went on to win awards and successfully sold his American Elixir of Bitter Wine, touted as appealing “to the patient as well as the doctor” and advertised as a “safe relief of constipation.” The 10.5-inch tall, dark brown bottle is embossed with JOS TRINER on one side of the shoulder, CHICAGO embossed on the other, and the letter B on the base. The single letter B was found on some handblown bottles prior to 1910, but it does not tell us the manufacturer as there is no known company using a single B as a manufacturer mark for medicines. Could use some cleaning inside, but a very cool Chicago bottle, free of cracks or chips. As always, carefully wrapped and promptly mailed at a reduced USPS rate. Thank you for looking!
