Bumping and fraying to spine caps and corners. Cloth is noticeably rubbed at edges, corners, and joints. Cloth of rear board is creased and faded and is coming apart from the board at the top corner. Rear board shows some heavy denting. Edge of text block is toned with a few smudges, otherwise clean. Spine is skewed. Binding is loosening but remains intact. Interior pages are evenly toned throughout. Binding is very fragile between pages 176 and 177 yet not cracked. Title page is torn near the hinge at the bottom of the page. Faint circular stain to a few pages of the front matter. Else, no marking, wrinkles, or foxing. First edition, published in 1886.
