Description: Johnny Houston and the Playboys: Rockin’ On The Range/This Breakin’ Apart on Surf Records from Ogunquit, Maine, 1960. Biddeford, Maine's Johnny Houston began his career as a rockabilly and rock'n'roll artist at age 22, recording "Hula Hands" with the Capitals on East West Records in 1957. His second release, "Playboy", issued on Event in 1959 as by Johnny Houston and the Playboys gained some regional airplay and led to local appearances. A third disc, "Torrid Tessie Lee", followed later in 1959. This was Johnny's fourth and final release, issued on the Surf label from Ogunquit, Maine in 1960. Surf was apparently tied to the Westbrook, Maine-based Event Records as "Event" is etched in the dead wax of this release. This rocking instrumental take on the traditional "Home On The Range" was aptly titled "Rockin' On The Range" and was backed with a country-flavored pop ballad, "This Breakin' Heart". Vinyl plays as a solid VG (very good condition) although visually it looks cleaner. It has also been cleaned using an ultrasonic record cleaner. The labels are clean and unmarked.
