Description: John Van Der Sterren (b. 1938 The Netherlands), "Pangandaran Marketplace", 1996.Medium to large in size taking a spatial footprint of 38.5" wide X 34.5" tall.Artwork itself is an oil painting on canvas, and the piece is in overall very nice condition.Gold wood frame is looking very nice with really no wear to make note of, although very very minor wear might have the slightest possibility to be found if sought out.My apologies for any lighting glares, reflections, or shadows you may see in the photos... A similar sized piece by this artist sold at Christies in 2003 for over $6000usd, and a few other decent selling past auctions can be found as well. Pangandaran Marketplace is found along the southern coast in Indonesia, and is located in a beach side fishing village community. John van der Sterren's artwork is highly sought after in SE Asia & Australia, and it is not very common to find his work here in the States. Please message with city/zip code for a shipping quote. John van der Sterren is a Dutch/New Zealander, born in Sukabumi, West Java in 1938. His earliest years were spent on a tea estate, 60km from Sukabumi, where his father was the ‘Administrateur’, prior to World War II. After World War II, during which his family were interned in concentration camps, his parents decided to immigrate to New Zealand, and eventually became New Zealand citizens. Between all of my photos, detailed description, and your option to ask questions beforehand, there should be no discrepancy whatsoever in what it is that you are receiving. And I think you will sometimes find my pieces to be even better in person once you receive them! Check my feedback!! By bidding/winning an auction, or purchasing a piece BIN, you are committing to buying and accepting this piece as is!! Please do no ruin auctions for others, or take away other potential buyers chances to buy a piece they may want. It's a giant waste of time for everyone involved. So please make sure you are serious when bidding!! Can you go back to your local auction house and return pieces for a full refund after bidding everyone else out, winning, paying, and taking the piece home?? Or can you go into your local antique store and demand a full refund after holding onto or using a piece for 30 days?? The same normal everyday rational rules of human engagement apply here!! Treasure hunting for you is how I pay the bills. It takes quite a bit of time to sell each piece from beginning to end; Searching for, procuring it, cleaning it up, researching, photography, all the middle parts you see when you are on eBay looking, then high quality thoughtful packing, shipping, etc. I am running a very small honest business, not an Amazon or Walmart. Most of my pieces are vintage or antique, and sometimes have the possibility of showing a little bit of character. I will always do my very best to disclose everything to my full ability. Ask me anything you want!! I am easy to work with and here for you!!
