Description: Jewels of Opar or Talinum Paniculatum is a versatile plant that can be used for flower arrangements, edible greens or herbal uses. It prefers growing in summer heat. This particular variety has light lime green succulent-like leaves, (as opposed to the darker green or variegated). Jewels of Opar is also known as Fameflower, Waterleaf and Surinam Spinach. Overall, this plant is easy to grow if you have a sunny location with well-draining soil. It can also be grown in containers – 3 gallons or larger. It is slow to grow below 80 degrees, but thrives in the summer heat and humidity. The seeds stems produce bright pink flowers that change into little balls/seeds pods of pink, red, and orange thus the name. Start 4-6 weeks before last frost, transplant outdoors once temperatures remain above 50 degrees. Sale is for 200 Jewels of Opar Seeds. Seeds are very small like poppy seeds, this is around 1/16th of teaspoon.
