Description: This beautiful hand painted cider pitcher, circa 1900, and is decorated with branches of lush, ripe, red cherries and white blossoms nestled among shaded green leaves. The background and handle is a combination of muted greens, yellows, browns and blues creating a host of different shades from light to dark. The cider pitcher measures 5 1/2" in height, 4 1/2" across the top, 7" across the widest portion of the body and 8" from spout-to-handle. It is stamped in green "JP over L over France". The JPL mark designates the Jean Pouyat Limoges Company and was used from 1894-1931. It is dated 1905 on the base and signed by the artist "S Shipman" on the side. There are no cracks, chips or repairs. A beautiful piece with not the usual choice of decoration.
