Description: J&C Jaeger & Co Plate 8 3/8" Hand Painted Pink Chrysanthemums Gold 1902-1908 HTF A beautiful BAVARIAN Decorative PLATE Hand Painted CHRYSANTHEMUM Blossoms & Leaves, Circa 1902-1908 GOLD Band on Scalloped Rim from Jaeger & Co. Jaeger, Thomas & Co. was founded in 1898 in Marktredwitz, Bavaria, Germany. In 1902 Fritz Thomas left the company to found Polzellanfabrik Markt Redwitz Thomas and Ens which operated from 1903-1908. Jaeger & Co. continued in business until 1979 until they were sold to an Italian Company, Sebring in Casier, Italy. The name was changed to Jaeger Porcellan GMBH and they continued in business. This superb quality decorative cabinet plate has the chrysanthemum pattern which was a common theme in the early 1900's. This is decorated with a gold band on the scalloped and embossed rim which is part of the Malmaison whiteware blank. While this plate classified as used, we can find no chips, nicks, rubbings, scratches, cracks, hairlines, or repairs. There appears to be absolutely no wear to the vivid color and no crazing. Look in the photos to see this. The lack of utensil scratches on the center of the plate attests to the high quality of the porcelain. There is no wear to the band of gold trim on the rim. The artist skillfully painted over to incorporate into the painting a surface indentation (manufacturing defect) in the porcelain. This is not visible unless you turn the plate in the light to catch the reflection in the glaze. Compare photo #1 & photo #2 looking between the top 2 leaves on the left. The plate is beautiful and realistically painted. The plate has a diameter of 8 3/8" and a height of 1".
