Description: Vintage Japanese Porcelain Mamezara Plate with Takamizu Miya Mark, Hand-PaintedIncludes 1 (one) plateA mamezara is a small, typically circular Japanese plate. The name literally translates to "bean plate," reflecting its diminutive size. These plates are usually no larger than the palm of your hand, making them perfect for serving small portions of food or condiments.Originally designed to hold soy sauce or other small dishes, mamezara have evolved into versatile pieces used for serving everything from pickles and sauces to individual desserts or appetizers. Their compact size and varied designs make them popular collectibles and decorative items. This small, delicate plate features a beautiful hand-painted design. The reverse side of the plate is unmarked except for the hand-painted inscription “Takamizu Miya.”While the exact origin and date of this piece are unknown, the style and markings suggest it may be from the mid-20th century. The term “Takamizu Miya” often indicates a kiln or potter's mark in Japanese ceramics. Miya is a Japanese pottery company that I suspect is the maker of this and Takamizu may be the artists name. I'm not an expert in Japanese pottery. I really loved this little plate so I bought it. It is most likely from Imari, Japan or Arita, Japan. This mamezara is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or restorations. It measures approximately 2 inches in diameter.Shipping: I take great care in packaging all items to ensure safe delivery. All shipments are photographed and recorded for your peace of mind.
