Description: Vintage Japanese Kamakura Bori lacquered carved wood bowl. This beautiful bowl was hand crafted, first carved, then lacquered with many layers in a red-brown colour, while the very bottom part is black (see photographs). The central motif is a peony. The underside graduates in 3 tiers to the base. The bowl is 9 ½ inches in diameter and 1 5/8th inches tall. The wood is thick, so the bowl is shallow – best used for displaying. It is in excellent vintage condition, not a chip or scratch. We are a charitable organization seller and as such, we recycle our packing materials as much as possible. In addition, we attempt to describe our donated articles as completely and accurately as we can. In most cases we are unable to provide provenance. Also, we package our items extremely well and cannot guarantee no breakage through shipping fragile items. Thank you for supporting our store.
