Description: Japanese Hanging Scroll Kakejiku This vintage Japanese hanging scroll (kakejiku or makimono) represents two Hina dolls, the prince and the princess, with a sakura cherry tree and a traditional decorative fabric at the back. Usually, Hina dolls are displayed during Hinamatsuri, girls' day. The border is a dark green floral pattern. This piece is signed and has a red seal. Kakejiku is a Japanese picture or calligraphy mounted on a piece of paper. Kakejiku was a tool to spread Buddhism in Japan. It has been integrated with Japanese culture as interior decoration. Tokokake is used at the Tokonoma in tatami room. Chakake uses Zen words in the tea ceremony room. Buddha-kake is used in the Buddhist altar.
