Japan Baseball Menko 1949 card game JGA Victor Starffin Bessho Kawakami (UNC)

Description: YAKYU TEAM AWASE (1949) Uncatalogued JGA Japanese baseball card menko game. Looks like it’s go fish, but you’re trying to get a full team of 9 players. Based upon the players in the game, it appears that this is from 1949. The star card / player here is Victor Starffin, who had just joined the Daiei team in 1949. The game is unplayed, like new, except the box has quite a bit of wear. Each edge (on the lid, and on the base) has split at the seam. Inside the box lid are the rules printed there. There's a folded piece of paper with all of the possible cards listed (for example, on the Giants, I see Yamakawa, Kawakami, Hirayama, Yoshida, Bessho, etc.). Inside are 4 bundles of cards. Three have the still sealed silver wrap on them, the 4th has the wrap split open. I carefully removed a sample card from each team (including Starffin's), so you could see the variety and condition, before sliding them back into the bundle.
