I included this video because this machine recently sold but the purchaser didn't know how to adjust the settings properly and used a new, but wrong, needle. I called the Janome tech line and spoke with the elderly woman from Wisconsin who was very familiar with the machine and told me to go purchase a Janome needle. She told me that the other needles are a tiny bit shorter and won't grab the thread underneath. I went and purchased a five pack of red top needles (Janome), and the first thing that I did is compare the length and it was longer than the one in the machine. With a little bit of adjustment to tension the machine worked as designed. This would make a very nice Christmas gift for someone. Janome's tech support is phenomenal. I spoke with two people and they were both Americans and the second one was an elderly woman from Wisconsin who was intimately familiar with the machine. This machine does not come with an instruction manual but a free digital version is available on the Janome website that one could print. Buy with confidence.
