Description: USS Pocomoke arrived at Pearl Harbor on Jan 4, 1943 Sailed Jan 11 and arrived in Loutog, Fiji Islands Group on Jan 19, 1943 where he bought this commercially sold photo. They sailed for Christmas Island on Jan. 28, 1943 arriving Feb 2 for a few hours before continuing on to Pearl Harbor. He served 4+ years on the USS Pocomoke AV-9 Aircraft Seaplane Tender. Served in North Atlantic at war's start and moved to South Pacific. He reported aboard the ship some time in 1941(there is his Aug 9, 1941 leave pass in album). Pretty sure he was a plank owner but more research needed.
