Possibly relating to the Forest Homestead Act of 1906. Photographer: George (Geo.) N. (Newton) Wilkie (1879-1941) lived in Oklahoma and Oakville, Iowa. (And was divorced) Good color, only slightly faded. Interesting photo of the people applying for Homestead lands, standing with Servants in Uniform. Possibly agents with the South & West Land Co. Agents. The South & West Land Company was headquartered at 954 Monadrock Bldg, Chicago, IL. In 1905 the famous Rhea pasture in Bovinia, TX had just opened for settlement. "The Last of the Great Prairie Farm Lands." The people in the photo are the same as in another photo I have listed, although in a different location. This may be the Office of the Land Agents-unknown. The cardboard has a few bumped corners, and some small spots.Otherwise in Very Good Condition. **.
