Description: James Dean Original Pencil Art Drawing from 1976. It is 9”x11” I purchased this recently from Goodwill in my town. I’m 40 so I wasn’t positive who it was when I found the piece but there were 2 sweet ladies in their 80s on the aisle when I found it and I asked them “do y’all know if this is James Dean?” and they confirmed it was and seemed amazed by the piece. Just made me wonder if seeing it made them flash back to their earlier days. Was a pretty neat occurrence since James Dean was from their era more than mine. I know nothing about the artist. It’s signed “Gandy 76” The fact that this sketch is almost half a century old and in the condition it is in is amazing. I do see where at the top right it appears some sort of liquid got on it at one point which can be trimmed or covered by a frame honestly. I didn’t want to even remove the art from its frame but had to to confirm it wasn’t a print. It’s the real deal as evidenced by turning the piece with light shining at it and seeing the lead from the pencil shimmer in the light. Once I was home, I discovered that the frame that it came in had tape on the back that had “James Dean” written on it. I am amazed at the quality of the piece and the artists ability to draw James Dean’s eyes and persona. This piece is so rare and is a great addition to any art lovers collection. I actually hate to sell this piece as the art is so good on it and it’s about the only art that I own. Thanks.
